Some comments from 2014 Maryland Governor's Cup
Eastern Shore medalists

Warren Rich, Little Ashby Vineyards
Winemaker and Red Blend Best in Class Medalist
"I build in extra steps in my wine making...I rack the wine more, I use natural yeast and I don't crush as hard...I take my time to let the wine present itself."

Janel Griffith, Dove Valley Winery
We have vines that are 16 years old and the grapes have the character of age so the wine speaks for itself. With 7 varieties we also can show a new wine each season. Our "Forbidden Apple" is so unique and garnered a Bronze at the 2014 Governor's Cup."

Historical Bohemia Manor Farm reborn as elegant Chateau BuDe Vineyard & Winery

Travelers of Chesapeake Wine Country have been curious about the beautiful slope of 14,000 new vines gracing the northern shore of the Bohemia River in Cecil County. Now wine aficionados and history lovers can sip wines at one of the most beautiful and oldest historic properties on the Eastern Shore of Maryland - Augustine Herman's Bohemia Manor Farm circa late 1600's.

The winery comes to us from two families dedicated to producing exceptional wine from quality vines. Co-owner Brenda Dedrick says BuDe's vineyard has a micro-climate and soil similar to the Bordeaux region of France and they will be looking to apply the knowledge and wine science from experts in that area to their distinctive river clime.

The owners are currently building an extensive winery facility but have dedicated a rustic open barn and vineyard side picnic area for wine tastings this summer. Tasting Hours are Wednesdays and Thursdays 2:00 pm to 7:30 pm and Friday through Sunday 11 am to  7:30 pm.
